every gun

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.â€Â      Â

Dear Diana,
Awesome blog … this observation of Eisenhower's is at the heart of why I left the military. The issues you address in your blog are why Tom Tuohy and I joined forces to create the Dreambirds … an expression of an alternative to war, of a world where children look up at a jet team in the sky and see a powerful, inspiring symbol of peace, while looking down, the “top gun” pilot sees connections, not targets.
Thanks for your good works!
With admiration, James
